'Roar' starts with 'What happened to your shrines of evolution, what happened to your revolution? Did you leave it for tomorrow?'.

'Roar' is by far his most varied record and it occasionally has a dark tinge to it like on 'Solar Face' where the protagonist says 'I stand like a scarecrow, because no-one remembers my name, I don't cast a shadow, because shadows are for the insane.'

With astonishing ease Moons writes songs that stay within a certain identifiable range but are almost diametrically opposed to each other. And above everything his philosophy is hovering and it says, you can be what you want to be, if you want.

'Heaven is in the mind', it's your attitude that counts, it's your vision that makes man.

Songs like 'Wonderful Land' exemplify his social concern, his concern for interpersonal relationships, the freedom of choice and decision, as well as his ecological attitude. The latter might tie in with what he answered when asked about his dayjob, and he mentioned 'a bit of gardening here and there, you know, sweeping leaves and things like that. Anything out in the countryside.'

..Reefus Moons is the pseudonym of a musically very talented young man from Yorkshire.

He has this strange, almost Syd Barrett-like fascination for unusual situations, strange people and animals, especially those of the insect kingdom.

He firmly believes in the tradition of recording everything at home and in this DIY spirit he released all his albums so far. The cassettes 'World in a Droplet' ('88), 'Moondust' ('89), and 'The Art of Slow Travelling' ('91) came out on Steve Lines' Acid Tapes label.

Reefus Moons started his own label, Insect Eye Records, in 1991 and released the LPs 'Reach for the Sundial and Kiss for the Hits' ('91), 'The Word Raven'('92) and the CD 'Upright Sound from the Message Tree' ('93).

So, as I said, it's been a while since we got some new material from him but it'sbeen worth waiting.

'Roar' features eleven new songs (36 mins) with the same bizarre English folk, populated with strange creatures, half insect/half human.

Reefus Moons has taken more time in recording and producing all the instruments used on each track and the result is great: 'Everything Under The Sun' sounds like psychedelic West Coast rock, 'Alien' is a spooky trip to outer space, 'Solar Face' and 'Interplanetary' are fantastic psychedelic rockers with heavy guitar riffs and tracks like 'The Invisible Revolution'. 'Wonderful Land' and 'Heaven is in the Mind' demonstrate his ability to create psychedelic folk with a wonderful personal touch.

Reefus Moons is a strange man but his music is even stranger and it's about time YOU started to discover his world. It's too good to miss!!
